You may have eaten some junk food, but you did eat a piece of fruit. You were successful! You accomplished exactly what you set out to do.Now this may seem to be very small and insignificant, but you are trying to build success, not climb an entire mountain in one day.Now, the next day, you can do the same five things again if you like. Or, you can make one of the five things just a little bit harder. Perhaps decide to eat a piece of fruit, and a salad. Again, write down all 5, and decide that these 5 things are a priority for tomorrow.As you continue to do this simple exercise, day by day, you will build and develop a pattern for success in your life. But what set him apart from people who merely desired was that his desire was definite. It was clear to him what he wanted. He didn’t want to work for Edison – he wanted to work with him. But before he set out to achieve his goal two adversaries stood in his way.

First, he did not know Edison nor did Edison know him. Second, Barnes did not have enough money to pay for the train that would take him to Orange, New Jersey where Edison was at the time. But did these difficulties discourage Barnes to carry out his desire? No. He did set out to meet Edison and worked with him, eventually. You see, at first, although Edison saw that Barnes had made up his mind to stand by until he succeeded and that he gave him the opportunity to get what he asked for, Barnes worked for Edison for a minimum wage. Yet, nothing stopped Barnes in achieving the coveted goal of working with Edison. He persisted until opportunity presented itself one day and Barnes, on the prowl, seized it instantaneously! After Edison perfected the Edison Dictating Machine, his salesmen did not warm up to it. Barnes saw gold when everyone else saw crap. He knew he could sell the machine. And sell he did with passion and great enthusiasm, keeping an eye on his goal.

He sold it so successfully that Edison gave him a contract of distributorship with the entire US his for the taking! His business association with Edison not only made him wealthy, he inevitably achieved his goal of working with Edison. With a clear and persistent desire Barnes got what he wanted despite the many hindrances that could have dispirited him at first step. He turned his desire into a reality. He made things happen! Do you think you could do the same? Don’t you dare think that Barnes’ success story is like nothing else.

You know so well as much as I do that the world is full of such stories. Now, sit for a while and know exactly what you want. Make it clear and make it specific.Strong desire is an essential motivation to all successful people. What’s your definition of success? You’ve probably heard it all before about the secret of success. The majority of people would say that having lots of money would be their definition of success. So how do you become successful? First, you need to ask yourself, what does success mean to you and what will it bring? You need to have a clear target in mind of exactly what you want. If you say I want to own a house; you need to state exactly what type of house. How many bedrooms? Where would it be? Is it big or small? If you visualize it, your goals will become more realistic and obtainable.
Your pathway to success is determined by your actions, vision, drive and the choices that you make. It sounds easy but life is full of distractions such as the media, internet, entertainment, parties and everything else in between. This is just a fact of life. The key is to do something small everyday to reach your goal. Breaking down your goals into smaller tasks makes them manageable. For example, your long-term goal can be achieved by completing your monthly goals, to achieve your monthly goals, you would need to hit your weekly target goals and your weekly target goals can be achieved by performing your daily goals. What it takes to becomes successful.

1) Developing the right mindset. You need to develop a successful mindset. The actions that you’ve taken to approach your goals and the choices that you’ve made, will determine your success or failure. You also need to control your fears, worries and any form of limitations that will prevent you from reaching your goals. The biggest limitation we have is security where we’re clinging on to our comfort zones. Also having a positive frame of mind and a positive environment will help you immensely in further reaching your goals. Good mentors are hard to come by, but none of us are perfect and learning is the key to a better self.

2) It’s because you want to, and not because you have to. Sometimes in life we feel that we have no other choice but to follow other people or to choose the simplest route to obtain comfort or security. We go about our business in our daily lives. It could be either our chosen hobby or job but the problem is we do it with no heart or passion. What if that day comes when that task becomes difficult or unpopular? We’d probably give up and quit.Success is about you discovering your talent. Using your talent will give you that ultimate feeling of freedom. Identify what it is that you really want in life and your career. How will your talent help other people?

3) Action… matters! You could go to college and do your university degrees, obtain the knowledge, read all the books you want and think that someday you will be successful. Someday just might never happen unless you take action in what you want to do. You could be the busiest person but probably didn’t accomplish anything. You need to ask; will the actions that I am taking now lead me closer to my goals? Start small, think big. Do not make another day become another habit. Time is valuable.

6. Develop the success habit of being goal oriented. Set realistic goals for yourself. Determine what must be done to attain your goals. Make plans for their attainment. Keep a record of your performance and achievements. Stick to your goals until they are accomplished.

7. Visualize your goals and believe you can attain them. See each goal clearly and in great detail in your mind’s eye—your imagination. Develop a sensory relationship with your goal. Know how it looks, feels, smells, tastes, and sounds. See yourself as though you had already attained your goal. Hold that vision constantly in your mind and believe that you can and will accomplish it. Know that your goal will be achieved in a timely manne.

8. Plan your work, and work your plan. Analyze your goal. Write down each and every action that must be performed to accomplish your goal. Make a plan for its attainment. Prepare a time schedule for the performance of each action. Execute your plan in accordance with your timetable and produce desired results. When you execute your plan effectively, you attract the attention of other people who will help you in your efforts.

9. Do not quit. To quit demonstrates your own lack of belief in yourself. Winners never quit, and quitters never win. When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on. Be prepared to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes.
